Hi!

I think I have messed up my system somehow running a spyware/malware removal tool. Somehow this tool has indicated that SqueezeCenter is one of the above, because I am unable to have Squeezecenter started, even after several un-installs and re-installs. I have even restored the registry from a date before the problems began.

What confuses me the most is that Squeezecenter is missing from the services.msc.

With this short explanation, doe anyone have a clue what I should do.

(I reverted back to 6.54 and that worked fine, but I want to run 7.21.)

Arne.

You don't make it clear whether you can't run SqueezeCenter 7.2.1 at all, or, since you expected it to be installed and run as a service that would start up with the computer, maybe you think it should already be running.

SqueezeCenter, beginning I think with version 7.0, no long installs itself as a Windows service. You need to run the service installer, at

Start > Programs > SqueezeCenter > SqueezeCenter Startup.

OK, I thought maybe this was part of my problem, but maybe not.

Squeezecenter will not run at all, that is, it just starts, but the little dots in the tray icon just keeps on blinking.. It is actually mysqld that fails, I think, at least that is the task that aborts while my motherboard(?) says 'beep' (nothing from my speakers.)
Just to make sure I understand this right:
If I run what you mention above, nothing really happens, the SqueezeCenter running just ends. . If I run it another time, SqueezeCenter is started and soon after I hear the 'system beep' (which I guess comes from the motherboard).
When I look in the Event log, it says that mysqld is aborting.
In the server log, this is written when I have booted my system:
[08-11-23 12:17:35.1756] Slim::Utils::MySQLHelper::createSystemTables (433) FATAL: Couldn't connect to database: [Can't connect to MySQL server on '127.0.0.1' (10061)]

I am lost, but I find it strange that version 6.54 works, but neither of the 7.2 works (I have tried both 7.21 and 7.2) 7.21 worked before the mess with antispyware programs started.

SlimServer 6.5.4 doesn't use the MySQL database server. Sounds like it could be a permission problem that keeps MySQL from running, or causes it to crash after startup. Try doing a forum search. There have been quite a few discussions about troubles with antivirus programs and MySQL. It's generally either that the A/V hasn't been configured to let the MySQL program run, or else that the A/V won't let MySQL write the type of files that it needs to write.

I searched the forum and saw one post about mysql and what solved his problem was Vista Service pack 1.

I had this one already installed, but I removed it and added it again and now SqueezeCenter is running again.

It already worked OK after I had removed the Service Pack, but it also works now after I have installed it again.Something on my PC was 'fucked up' and I am glad I solved it.

Thanks for your help !
