AlienStream3 stops buffering at 12%

I'm trying to get alienstream 3 working, and am getting stuck at the
testing phase. I've created the fifo, and set the xine environment
variable. The buffering stops at 12% as follows:

Any suggestions on how to debug this? I can play this stream from Real on
OS X 10.3.3, so the network connection is there, and the url is correct.

Hey, another Air America listener! That's what prompted my current
foray into Real streaming. I was able to get alienstream to buffer up
and deliver wav data to the fifo, but when I did, it was stuttering
really bad and the percieved sample rate was jumping around. i.e. not
listenable. I suspect that Xine doesn't have the right codec,
considering that gXine won't stream that URL either. (gXine just dies)
You *might* have some luck by updating your Xine libs, but maybe not.
Mine are current from last week with no joy.

I was able to get trplayer (binary build) to stream AirAm once I pointed
it at my RealPlayer8 libs, so I'm going to play with vsound and such
this weekend.

Wanna help me pester AirAm for an MP3 stream? :)
