I/O on Linux 2.6 is noticably faster with respect to slimserver.

My MP3 filesystem is mounted on an LVM partition using an XFS filesystem. I
am using 3ware 8506 RAID-5 Controller. 2x2.4Ghz Xeons with 512 MB RAM.

My collection has 7000+ MP3s with 300+ directories.

I just downloaded and installed all the components for 2.6.3-7. I'll try to
do
some profiling on 2.4.19 first. If 2.6 boots without complication I can
probably run a few tests over the long weekend.
