My #1 Favorites button does not light up. All the other buttons backlight fine.
Is it possible this is some kind of firmware/software bug? Or is is just a defective unit.
Just got it from Crutchfield, so they probably won't hassle me with a return, but I'd like to avoid it all the same if possible.
Hi there
If you power your Boom off only the LED behind power should be on. Can you confirm that is true? The reason I ask is that I would like to see if it's a firmware issue, not turning on and off the correct LEDs or if it is more likely a defective LED.
Thanks
Felix

FYI: All of my Boom buttons are illuminated when powered ON. But the Power button is not illuminated when powered OFF.
By 'power off' I mean Boom is connected to SC and in off mode, i.e. shows the clock.
If you remove the power cable, no buttons are illuminated as there is no backup battery for that.
Sorry for the confusion.

Mine doesn't show a clock cuz I chose "nothing" for OFF mode in the screen savers. I'm just pushing the POWER (ON/OFF) button on the Boom or the remote.
When I power the Boom back on it immediately starts playing whatever it was playing when I turned the Boom off.
But it is always plugged in, ON or OFF.
Is that what you mean?? :)

I think something is going on with your Boom firmware. The Boom should not start playing when you turn the power on.
When you get ready to turn the Boom off, do you pause or stop the music before hitting the Power button? If yes, and you turn it back on, it should be waiting for a command to either play or a menu command. It shouldn't just start playing. Is this what is you are saying is happening? If yes, I would do a full factory reset.

That depends what you have set for Settings->Player->Power On Resume

No, this is by design and by my choice on both my SB3 and Boom. It's just a setting per player in SC7: Settings > Player > Audio
The first option is "Power On Resume" and I have selected "Pause at Power Off / Resume at Power On"
I just turn both devices OFF when finished listening. I do not hit Stop or Pause.

When you said your Boom "Just" starts playing when you turn it on, it sounded like you meant you didn't want that behavior making me 'assume' you were not using the Resume on Play feature.
For one of the firmware guys: If somebody selects "No Clock" IE dark on the Boom when Power Off, does that direct the Power Button backlite to be off also so that the whole unit is dark?

Just figured out my problem (and quite possibly what is causing the POWER button not illuminating for the OP). I have my SB3 and Boom set to "0-Dark" for Power Off Brightness.
I was not aware this also effected the POWER button on the Boom, I assumed it only affected the screen itself.
Changing OFF Brightness to 5-Brightest the Power button is properly illuminated.
DOH! :)

Yeah, I was trying to answer the question of whether or not I was "connected" to SC when OFF. As it resumes play so quickly when I turn it ON I assume it must have already been connected to SC when OFF.
As I just discovered (see above post) I now have no display (no clock by choice) when OFF but the Power button is properly illuminated. Boom buttons are indeed affected by Display Brightness settings. :)

To fcm4711,
Yes, when the power is off, the Power button is lit, and only that button. Which I understand to be the "correct" behavior.
Hi makingmark
Yes, that is the correct behavior. So, if when turned on 'preset 1' is the only one _not_ backlit, then I am afraid you've got a defective unit. (Maybe the led is missing or broken.)

Ok.
Thanks for your response.
Hi there,
Same problem here, led (?) of button 1 not working. Any news on this issue? Strange coincidence indeed...
Boom Firmware: 41
SqueezeCenter Version: 7.3.1 - 24372 @ Fri Dec 19 17:30:03 PST 2008
Thanks,

Ok, I went back to the shop (Fnac in Geneva) and they accepted to replace the unit straight away. Excellent customer service indeed.
Now I can again enjoy the gorgeous sound of my Boom. Definitely a extraordinary product that should really be marketed as THE all-in-one network music player.
