Best Buy Availability

Why is it that the Boom isn't available at any Best Buy I have access to? I want to put my hands on it before I buy, so its unavailability at retail is actually preventing my puchase.

I have access to >10 Best Buys in two different cities I travel to regularly, none of them ever have it in stock (I check each time I'm there).

Just thought I would feed that back to Logitech... Get more supply in your partners' hands...

I can understand wanting to try it b4 buy it, but absent that a couple of ides:

- Amazon has the Boom for $278.00 including free shipping, no sales tax, 30 day money back guarantee, free RMA return shipping.
- *IF* Best Buy offers free shipping (no clue) you can usually order from the big retailers online then return to any store (no shipping) within return period. Or gamble on the shipping cost to try it, I suppose.

More product availability would certainly be the best solution, to be sure. I'm guessing it's a hot seller at the moment. :)

I'm very suprised you can not find it displayed at a Best Buy. My local Best Buy had a Logitech marketing display area set up with a Duet and a Boom for customers to play with and test. I wanted to check it out before I purchaed it as well. I was so impressed, I walked out of the store with my own!

That might be what I end up doing. Sales tax is pretty high in Tennessee anyway (~10% in my area), so mail order is typically cheaper even when there are shipping costs.

My Best Buy showed no stock online, but they had the display and one NIB when I went in there.

I just heard from the head of our US sales team that shipments were delayed to Best Buys due to a warehouse move.

About 150 stores were just sent their first shipments.

I bought my Boom at one of the Best Buy's in my area, here in South Florida, this past Friday. I had a hard time finding it once I was in the store. My instinct was to look in the computer area or mp3 area, but didn't see it. I then walked to the back of the store where they have the boomboxes. I found one back there, on the bottom shelf, barely visible. It appeared to have been open and then resealed. I then found another one, near the car audio section, again on the bottom shelf. This was the only store in my area that showed it in-stock on 9/12/08. This morning all the Best Buy stores in a 30 mile radius show it in-stock.

bought mine at best buy woodside,queens. friday 12

the boomand duet are in the ads paper i received.
but nobody at BB known them (audio , computer , mp3 people ) but they ad the ad so they could get the sku#

the boom was in the mp3 section but they could not find it , the computer said 2 available.

finally , i saw them on the bottom shelf on the floor, side way and the sticker under was not for it...
and no duet !!!

Guys the Boom has the same 30 day No Questions asked return policy. No, I can't speak for you and only myself, but trust me, very few of you are going to send it back.

I'll keep my eyes open. I want to see it first after reading some of the comments about how skipping/disabling the alarm works.

The alarm skip (if you wake up 5 mins before alarm time for instance) sounds difficult enough that I'm not sure my wife would tolerate it. So I need to see it first hand. Don't want to go into menus to turn alarm on/off. Do it too often.

OK, I follow what you are saying and now here is the BUT. But how is seeing it going to answer any of your questions? Seeing it in the store only allows one to see the actual size and spin the knob to adjust the volume. The store display units are not hooked up to the Internet or a SqueezeCenter server. They only run a simple programed demo.

Best way to see if it will do what you need and want is to order one! As for the menu to turn off the alarm before it goes off is a couple of clicks at a PC or about three inputs from the remote. Very simple on the remote and quick even after just waking up. Somebody on the Forum might even know a better quicker way. I have to Snooze twice before I can even think about getting up.

Speaking of availability, the demo displays are now showing up in Atlanta Best Buy Stores. The Sunday paper BB Flyer had the Boom and Duet at the top of one of the ad pages. All but a few BB's sold all of their Booms and the stores that still have them only seem to have one. I all can say is WOW.

The Perimeter Mall Best Buy Store sold out and the demo display is on a long bench on the main front to back aisle right in front of the flat screen TV Sales/Help desk. Bingo, really great location for exposure and traffic.
