View Full Version : Display Brightness logic
Hi
I'm lost with the logic of the Boom player brightness. I'd like some settings as I have with the Squeezebox Controller:
- set brightness during local or remote interaction (even with controller or web interaction)
- dim to certain level after x seconds
How should I set this with
- Brightness while on
- Brightness while off
- Idle Brightness
Anyway, what is on, what is off, and whit is idle???
The second best option would be:
- set brightness x during play
- set brightness y if not playing
Any help appreciated!
Brightness while on = set brightness during local or remote interaction (even with controller or web interaction)
Brightness while off = press the "power" button and the player is "off"
Idle brightness = dim to certain level after x seconds
(where x is the screensaver timeout)

Would "Screensaver brightness" instead of "idle brightness" be clearer?
I always have to pause and think what idle means (for some reason "not playing" keeps coming to mind...).

Speaking of which, it would be nice to be able to tweak just how the screen adjusts when brightness is "automatic". I like my screen a little dimmer than the "automatic" setting provides, but still want it to raise and lower the brightness to follow ambient lighting.

I saw a different thread for this topic. That's why I started a new thread to not mix the topics about dimming, light condition and logic.

Thanks, that did help a lot!
But it's wrong :-) Brightness while on is not used whil interaction with the controller but with the infrared remote. That's ok, as I have the controller (or other web interface) with the needed information and don't have to check the display on the Boom.
- Brightness during local operation (buttons or infrared control)
- Brightness while off (eg. Alarm clock)
- Brightness of screensaver while playing (set after timeout)
This would be something I understand. Perhaps one can shorten the text so it fits on the different displays used to configure.
Thanks!
