Not quite as loud as you need even if you're trying to not disturn your neighbors, but there's always the A5's :-)

Nice pool! Mine's loud enough, but I keep it closer to the pool.

Umm...

I like my Boom as much as the next person, but shouldn't you be watching football instead?

The Redskins played earlier in the week and they were not impressive :-(

This has been the best summer in Maryland in my 55 years. I spend every minute I can outside. If the Fall is as nice as the summer was, I may miss the entire football season :-)

I think it's the bass I miss when it's outside. I put a SB all over the place kind of depending on where I'm at. This was Sunday morning and I was having coffee so I was trying to keep it down. I'm an early riser and my neighbors aren't :-)

Don't you wish it had batteries??

Ah, I'm not one who enjoys a lot of bass.

I haven't had any desire for them. Anywhere that's close enough to the house to get WiFi will have a power outlet.

You will have this problem with almost any speakers designed to be used indoors. Without the usual bass reinforcement from the walls - and especially the room corners - the outdoor sound will seem to be lacking in the bass region.

This is one reason why outdoor concerts use massive sound systems and STILL sometimes sound lacking in the bass.

I'm not looking for a ton of bass, just a normal kind of sound. I'm used to the A5's hooked to my DUET receiver outside.

I have two outlets by the pool. One at each end. I don't really like running an extension cord out there and it would be nice to have the Boom at the chairs poolside. That way I could keep it turned down and still enjoy decent fidelity. The WiFi goes way past where I have power :-)

Howard have you tried adjusting the bass in Settings>Audio? I have my bass set to +11 but rarely/never go higher than 50% volume. It really helps with anemic sounding tracks, and isn't too much on bass heavy tracks. Be sure to lower it if you plan to crank up the volume though.

Right now it is all the way up. And really, I'm not a bass nut at all. My 2 channel set up doesn't have tone controls or equalization. It sounds fine through my A5's with no bass added so I'm not sure what I missing, but it's fine the way it is.

When I bought it I had dreams of putting it outside because it was more portable, but now that I have it, I think it will be regulated to bedside duty, which is really what it seems to be designed for. I'll keep wishing Logitech will make a more normal boom box. A bit bigger speakers and multi-power capability. I also found the display still hard to see outside.

Don't get me wrong, I really like it and am glad to have it. I think that the DUET will work better outside, sound wise. Still can't see the display, but honestly, after I get it going, I hardly ever touch it again all day :-)

Last night I turned on the StereoXL on my boom and I beleive that is where my bass was hiding. At least it sounded a whole lot better and the sound stage change was nice.

I agree that the Duet is unsatisfactory outside. The display is unreadable. In fact I just bought another SB3 (on sale at Amazon for $230)to supplement one Duet, two receivers, and an SB3 as well as A5s (great little speakers). I also find that the Duet is much less reliable than the SB3 in terms of network connectivity, drops out, difficult to connect to music library or handshake with receiver et al. I am holding off on the Boom until: (a) reassured that it doesn't suffer from the same sort of problems as the Duet; and (b) it has at least RCA outs so that it can double as an SB3 as well. Since all the circuitry is there to output the signal to the amplifier in the Boom there seems no reason why there can't be some audio output jacks on the Boom.

I don't understand this statement. There is an audio output on boom,
the headphone jack. It uses the same DAC as on SBR.

The headphone jack plugged in to any system sounds as good as the output of the DUET receiver. In other words, GREAT!
