Stop playing music

What is the appropriate way to stop playing music with the duet? I hit pause last night on Pandora, and this morning it was playing again. Is there a pause time limit on Pandora, or did something else happen. What about when listening to my library should I hit pause, turn the volume down, shut off the squeezebox or something else?

For local tracks, hitting pause should be enough. However, streamed services such as Pandora are sometimes better to be stopped than paused so they don't restart as you experienced. Random play is another feature where stop seems to work better than pause. Hold down the pause button (press+hold pause) to stop.
