5.1.1 vs. the El Cheapo Profundo DAC

If you're just joining us, Roy's Cheap-Ass(tm) Samsung receiver with
built in Cheap-Ass(tm) TOSLINK DAC had serious issues with the gap
between songs. It would burst forth with white noise after pretty much
every other track played.

After upgrading to 5.1.1, the problem seems to be gone. At least, it's
gone 6 tracks now without barfing, which is 4 more than it ever went
pre-upgrade.

how's it sound?

(yes, i'm still fishing around for subjective comparisons of sound
quality of SB analog outs vs. S/PDIF outs + other DAC)

I noted this in another email, but it sounds noticably better than the
analog outs to my less than golden ears. Of course, this could be because
the analog inputs of the receiver are sub-marvelous.
