View Full Version : speakers in walls and already wired - do I need an AMP?

My house is already wired for speakers, so I have speaker wires that is routed to a central location in my basement.

I have just bought squeezebox and I would like to hook each of the speakers to its own receiver however - what do I connect the speaker wire to? Is there a way to connect the speaker wire to the output from the receiver or do I need to buy mini-amps for each setup?

Any advice gratefully received

You will need amps for each setup.

if I get an amp and it is in my basement - is it possible to control volume through the duet controller?

Ideally I'd set the amp volume to the max I'd want it then just use the duet controller to lower it as needed. Otherwise I would need to go down to the basement every time :-(

Of course.

Although i wouldn't have the amps at max, just get the balance right between them and the Recievers. But then this would become obvious when you set it all up :)
