FLAC and tags

Decided to go with FLAC and as Pat Farrel suggested to rip the CDs during
the day using EAC and leave FLAC to churn away at night. Like Pat I found
that getting EAC to both rip and then encode to FLAC became very slow.

This has thown up one issue that I'm not sure if I can automatically correct
and need advice on:

FLAC doesn't currently output the files to an artist or album folder. Can I
adjust the FLAC tags so that my slimp3 can see who the artist/album is and
how do I do this?

Or do I need to manually put them into artist/album folders?

FLAC does not move the files, so your problem is really that
EAC is not creating the raw .wav files in a suitable directory
structure. Perhaps someone else knows how to make EAC do it,
I gave up and use CDex.

CDex is free, available thru http://cdexos.sourceforge.net/
CDex will easily put the files in a genre/artis/album
directory tree, which makes it easy to then use FLACfrontend
or even tag.exe in Windows. (It has a normalize function, if
you want to have it make all the volumes be similar for random play).

Note, that CDex generates the genre/artist/album information from
the freedb database, and so any errors in freedb will show up in your
directory tree. I check the extracted files manually and do any
needed corrections before I fire up FLACfrontend.
