Hi. I have a Duet being delivered today. I have a Vista Media center pc in my living room running slimserver that is hooked up to my home theater system. Can I access the music on my Vista machine using the Duet controller, without hooking up the squeezebox receiver (I would rather use the receiver in another room)?

Put the receiver in the room where you want music. It needs to be connected to your network (wireless or Ethernet cable) not your computer.

Ok. Thought I had read on a review though that said if you had a Home Theater PC (running slimserver) hooked up to an audio system, you could use the controller to play music via the PC thereby freeing up the receiver for another room. They said this was an advantage of the Duet over other systems.

Maybe they were wrong.

Nothing wrong with that Kevin. It sounds like you're after SoftSqueeze, which is our software version of a Squeezebox. If you've already had a chance to download and install SqueezeCenter on your media center, check it out its under extras.

Cool. I'll check it out tonight.
