View Full Version : SC7 Genre sort order
The sort order for my genres is more or less random and not alphabetically like it was in 6.5. Searching the forums I found a few others that seem to have the same problem, but no solution provided.
I'm running on a linux box (FC5) and using an external database.

What browse mode? Web or player interface?

Both the Squeeze box (I have 2 version 2 and one 3) and the web interface sort them in the same order, it is just not alphabetical. I can't really tell how it is sorted, maybe by time added to the database?
Screenshot of sort order:
Is this the mysql bug again? Mysql versions 5.0.45 - 5.0.51?

Ahh, I bet it is, I'm running 5.0.51. I'll change versions and see what happens.

I found the sort problem is for Album, sorted by a random order.
My environment : (Synology DS207+)
SqueezeCenter Version: 7.0.1 - 17829 - Linux - EN - utf8
Server IP address: 192.168.1.5
Perl Version: 5.8.8 armv5tejl-linux-thread-multi
MySQL Version: 5.0.51
Platform Architecture: armv5tejl-linux
And I found another strange problem :
I've many Chinese albums, when I select "Clear and re-scan", I can see those Chines chars, ex, Home -> Albums, during the scan (and they are random sort order). but when the scan finished, only
1 2 3 4 5 7 8 ? A B C D E F G H I J K L M N O P R S T U V W Y Z
are seen, click Home -> Artists, the Chinese chars are all gone.
Just a follow up. I switched my setup to use MySQL 5.1.23 and it fixed the sort order issue.

New to MySQL, any hint on how to install a never version when I am using SSODS? I am tired of having the genres being ramdomly displayed...
Thanks
