    6 hours of frustration

I've been trying to set up the new SBC which arrived yesterday. I'm running the latest Feb-12 firmware (updated via SD card), and the latest Feb-12 SC7 beta (Windows).

I'm stuck in trying to connect to either music source. The controller cannot find SC7 at all. Just doesn't list it as a music source. (Windows firewall is off, BTW) It finds SqueezeNetwork but can't connect to it. The first dozen times I tried, it did the wheely thing and eventually gave up, saying "Try Again" or "Skip This Step".

Now it lists the option to connect to SqueezeNetwork, but it won't let me select that option.

I've done the factory reset on both the SBR and SBC.

    What next?

I might add that my other SB3s have no problem finding SC7, so it's definitely not a network issue.

On a hunch, I broke out the old SBR and fired it up. It had no problem connecting to SC7. It went through a firmware update, and it found the SB3 and SBR that are connected to SC7. everything looks good.

So maybe there's a problem with the new SBC.....I'll keep troubleshooting...

If you are able to upgrade the firmware on the new remote via the network rather than SD card that might be worth trying. Just another hunch though.

Yes, it looks like there's a problem with the new SBC.

          Version:
          7.0 r1913
          root@padbuild #30 Mon
          Feb 11 13:45:05 PST 2008

          MAC Address:
          00:04:20:1A:04:CC

(the MAC Address in the battery compartment matches the one on the "About" screen)

Wouldn't it have to connect through SC7 to get the network update?

When my server is off the Home screen has Settings,Extras, and Choose Player, and I can still access the Advanced Settings>Software update. It put/kept me at r915, padbuild #31, Tues.

So it looks like the new SBC is having trouble connecting to either source. It lists SqueezeNetwork as a source but can't connect to it. It does not find SC7 at all, even though the SBR and my other SB3s are using SC7 with no problem.

8 hours into this and I still have not complete the initial setup. I guess I'll wait a few days for another firmware version and try again.

                  Here's the issue:

On the old SBC, the firmware is:

                  Version:
                  7.0 r1915
                  root@padbuild #31 Tue
                  Feb 12 01:56:03 PST 2008

The new SBC has firmware #30 from Feb 11.

I'll try again tomorrow; right now I'm exhausted.

I've already tried that. When I select "Network Update", I get an immediate screen saying Update Failed | Try Again...

That's why I went to plan B, the SD card.

Have you tried enable ssh and connecting to it to make sure it has networking and routes? Maybe it doesn't have a default gateway or something silly like that.

Yeah, Upgrade Failed|Try Again is the message I get when SBC isn't connected to the wireless network.

I've never been able to make an SSH connection. I figured it was a broken feature because it never worked for me in all the months I've had the SBC. I use SSH daily for other stuff. Is there something I need to know to use it on the SBC?

It's not clear to me from the thread that you've successfully
                            connected to the wireless network.

What are the settings reported when you select your wireless network
                            via the advanced settings?
