Whilst trying to work out why all tracks in my Various Artist albums are listed twice I've experienced problems with the scanner.
I changed SC7 playlists path to point at an empty folder and changed music path to point to a directory containing a single VA album:
G:\Q-Z\_Various Artists\_MP3\VA - Top Gear - Ultimate Driving Experience [2005]
Did a full clear and rescan.
When it finished SlimServer reported 86 albums! Tried Browse Music Folder and this confirmed it was pointing at the one intended album.
Scan stats showed:
Total Tracks: 169
Total Albums: 86
Total Artists: 98
Total Genres: 15
Total Playing Time: 15:22:12
Music Scan Details
This page shows the progress of each phase of the scanning process.
Directory Scan (38 of 38) Complete 00:00:09
Playlist Scan (19 of 19) Complete 00:00:36
Merge Various Artists (85 of 85) Complete 00:00:02
Artwork Scan (86 of 86) Complete 00:01:01
Database Optimize ( of ) Complete 00:00:03ction.00:01:51
SqueezeCenter Information
SqueezeCenter Version: 7.0 - 16146 - Windows XP - EN - cp1252
The log file had reached 1gb and was too large to look at so could get no info there.
Also.....
My library contains 1500 flac albums and I've noticed that when I action a full clear and rescan SC7 becomes unstable (locks up) for a long period of time before it starts actually scanning my music folders. I am guessing that it's clearing the database cache during this time. If it is, why doesn't it just delete the existing database as this would be quicker and not lead to the problem above? While it's at it it could it delete the log file too!
Both are recreated as soon as the rescan starts I understand.
