Firstly are you sure its not /home/mp3 (this is the correct *nix syntax).

Also check what user slimserver is running as (if it's not running as root,
then you'll need to grant permissions on the sub directories).

Hence:

[steve@mp3server sysconfig]$ ps -ef | grep slimserver
slimserver 1163 1160 0 19:37 ? 00:00:00
/usr/local/slimserver/Bin/i386-l
slimserver 1164 1160 0 19:37 ? 00:00:00
/usr/local/slimserver/Bin/i386-l
slimserver 1165 1160 0 19:37 ? 00:00:00
/usr/local/slimserver/Bin/i386-l
slimserver 1257 1218 0 19:58 pts/0 00:00:00 tail -f slimserver.log
steve 1350 1269 0 22:47 pts/1 00:00:00 grep slimserver

If slimserver is not running as root then

(as root)

chmod -R 755 /home/mp3

Or chown all the mp3 files to the slimserver user

chown -R slimserver:slimserver /home/mp3

This can be a bit tricky especially if you are running and smb server (I am
so that my PC can access the MP3's - PC is used to rip). This can be sorted
by playing with the smb options

HTH

Subject: [slim] Folder location under Linux

A friend has just installed the server on his Linux box, and it's
started successfully. We can't get the server to see the folders
within his mp3 directory, which is specified in the SLiMP3 settings as
\home\mp3

SLiMP3 recognizes it as a valid directory, but it doesn't pick up any
of the subfolders therein. Thoughts on a solution? TVMIA.
