"If this is correct, you've installed the plugin in the wrong place:
> //Program Files/SqueezeScrobbler/HTML/EN
SqueezeScrobbler should be in the 'server/Plugins' folder of your SqueezeCentre installation."
No, it's not correct. I made a typo. SqueezeScrobbler is installed in
> C:\Program Files\SqueezeCenter\server\Plugins
(i the subdirectory SqueezeScrobbler).
Are you sure v1.1.10 doesn't contain a bug? I reverted back to v1.1.1 and that one works (apart from LastFM not appearing on the main window of the Web interface). It's weird that v1.1.10 appears to be looking in a directory
> <something>/settings/plugins/SqueezeScrobbler/settings/basic.html
that doesn't exist.
Craig, James \(IT\)
2008-05-14, 10:18
The path to the settings page is expected to look like that.
SqueezeCentre works out what it's supposed to be (I've no idea why this is necessary).
Are you deleting the plugin cache file? If not, that's probably why it's not updating.
James
PS. Is it just me, or is the SqueezeCentre 7.0 plugin management far worse than in 6.5?!
I've really lost all interest in repeatedly telling people they've installed the plugin in the wrong place
and have to re-install along with deleting a mysterious 'cache' file in order to get it working...

Are you deleting the plugin cache file? If not, that's probably why it's not updating.
Yes, I first deleted the plugin cache file only, then deleted the entire cache directory. Of I course stopped and restarted SqueezeCenter every time I re-installed SqueezeScrobbler and emptied the cache.
The path to the settings page is expected to look like that.
This baffles me. This path doesn't even exist on my computer. (And I'm sure I installed v1.1.10 correctly. v1.1.1 is working every time I install it.)
To emphasize what I mean: the path
C:\Program Files\SqueezeCenter\server\Plugins\SqueezeScrobble r\HTML\EN\plugins\SqueezeScrobbler\settings\basic. html
does exist and should exist (based on the directory structure in the SqueezeScrobbler zip file). However, based on the error message, SqueezeCenter/SqueezeScrobbler appears to look for
C:\Program Files\SqueezeCenter\server\Plugins\SqueezeScrobble r\HTML\EN\settings\plugins\SqueezeScrobbler\settin gs\basic.html
It's the first "settings" (in bold) that shouldn't be there.
P.S. There are some space characters in these paths that shouldn't be there. I didn't type them, but apparently the forum software generates them.
Craig, James \(IT\)

That is the correct path - it does not map directly to a real path on your server.

Hi James,
Your help is really appreciated.
OK, the path is correct. Any other clue what I'm doing wrong with v1.1.10?
I deleted the older version of the plugin, then unzipped the new version in C:\Program Files\SqueezeCenter\server\Plugins, then I stopped and restarted SqueezeCenter, and in between I emptied the cache (deleted plugin-data.yaml from C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SqueezeCenter\Cache, but also tried deleting everything from this directory, with the exception of the MySQL subfolder).
And v1.1.1 is working.
Hi there
I've read this thread from the beginning and end up to the same point: the same 404 error. I tried all suggested fixes and hints I've read here so far, to no avail.
I had a (working) slimserver installation before, with the (working) slimscrobbler plugin.
Though my server is running under linux, I suppose it is the same issue.
I did another check, though, thats why I'm posting here. I set the log level to debbuging for this plugin and always get this error:
[08-05-15 09:32:34.1259] Slim::bootstrap::tryModuleLoad (266) Warning: Module [Plugins::SqueezeScrobbler::Plugin] failed to load:

Perhaps this could be of any help? Or is ist perl-config related?
By the way: I use squeezecenter ver 7.0.1 and squeezescrobbler 1.1.10a
Thanks for your reply.

Sorry, no idea at this point!
I believe the only difference between 1.1.9 and 1.1.10 is that the maximum version number was changed so that it would work on v7.1 and 7.0.1.
You did say that the web interface is not available in v1.1.1? Doesn't sound like that's working properly either to me!
(I suspect that's because the method used to register as a 'radio' plugin changed name a while back)
Have you checked the logs for any errors?
Try enabling the d_plugins logging setting, with the 'save on restart'option, then restart SqueezeCentre.

I have not seen this error before so I will try and find out what's gone wrong.
It looks like a typo in the plugin.

Unfortunately I'd forgotten that I'd been messing around with the plugin before releasing v1.1.10!
Sourceforge file releases are down for an upgrade so here's a direct link for v1.1.11 which I have verified is working ;-)
http://www.jamescraig.co.uk/SlimServer/SqueezeScrobbler_v1.1.11.zip
I will upload to SourceForge once available again.
James
James,
just out of curiosity:
You are keeping your own list of favorites for LastFM. Now I've tried the "Favorites" function on iPeng and found out that it works well with LastFM stations, that is, it can add them to the favorites and give 'em the correct label. And playing them from "Favorites" works as well.
So why don't you use that, too? You can then have your favorite LastFM stations among the other favorites, which I find quite useful since I only have Radio Stations in my favorites and then they would all be in one place.
You could still filter for LastFM stations to display them on your plugin's page.
What the iPeng function does is simply calling the CLI command "favorites add title:<title> url:<stream-url>".

Hi Pippin,
The favourites functionality didn't work as well when I started the plugin as it does now.
Your suggestion seems like a good idea, but I don't really spend much time on the plugin these days.
Shouldn't that official plugin be along 'soon' by now? ;-)

Like the Plugin installer? Audio Playback on Jive? SqueezePlay?
I feel Logitech has quite a few frontiers to fight on so they might need to prioritize. Maybe it's worthwhile keeping this up to date a bit longer...

Hi James,
the 1.1.10 version works well in the Web UI but I am not able to switch the Last FM stations from the SBC (I have tested it with SC 7.1 as well as SC 7.01).
Any clue ?
Cheers,

There's something weird happening. Sometimes, after I've pushed "pause" on the remote, the Squeezebox resumes LastFM play again. This sometimes happens after 5 mins, sometimes much later. Anyone got any idea?
Ever since I switched to SC7 I've been using the in-built scrobbling feature rather then James' plugin (which I'd used for a long time before that). I've just noticed that, unlike James' scrobbler, the built-in doesn't seem to pass the genre tag(s) to last.fm. Is this the case, or am I missing something? If it is missing, I'll post an enhancement request (a quick search of bugzilla revealed nothing).
Reporting genre is not part of the scrobbling spec.
Hmmm. Checked out http://www.audioscrobbler.net/development/protocol/ and as you say, no reference to specifying tags. So, James, how did you do it?

I read the source code for the official LastFM player and figured it out from that.
The LastFM documentation is not to be relied upon...

Hi James,
I still have the problem that switching of radio stations doesn't work from the controller. It works in the web ui but not from the controller menu.
I am using SqueezeScrobbler version 1.11 and SC 7.1 (but it didn't work with SC 7.0 and 7.01 either).
Skipping titles and pausing does work but not switching the radio stations.
Any clue ?

Sorry, I forgot about this. I haven't tried changing stations from the controller for a while...
I won't be able to check until next week.
You could try looking in the server log file and see if there are any obvious errors.

Hi, thanks for the great plugin. I'm curious if there are any outstanding issues related to Softsqueeze/SC 7.01 under Windows Vista. Are there any plans for SC to support last.FM entirely in SC 7.x/Squeezenetwork (without the need of this plugin)? I know this just happened to the Sirius Radio Plugin.
My last question is a bit off topic, but I know there are a lot of smart people who watch this thread...
I could be wrong, but there currently is no good way to have "Now Playing on SqueezeCenter" information relayed to Internet Chat programs like Trillian. Is there a clever way to somehow taking advantage of the information being sent to LastFM AudioScrobbler to be sent to chat programs?
This maybe a stupid question, but I'm still a newbie concerning the SC and the SqueezeScrobbler plugin I can't seem to add favorite stations with the SqueezeScrobbler plugin.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FAVOURITE STATIONS
Enter your favourite LastFM Stations
e.g.
group/groupname for "group" radio,
user/username for "user" radio,
globaltags/tagname for "tag" radio,
artist/artistname/similarartists for "similar artist" radio.
prefix the station name with "nickname;" for a display-friendly nickname.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have tried to fill in these combination quit a few times, but I still end up getting "Error senfing track update to LastFM" and then it says "Waiting for track update" on my SB3 screen.
I hope somebody can help me out what I do wrong or somebody can point me out how to fill in the favorite station commands the right way
Thanks in advance.
The plugin is behaving in an odd way on my system. I have Squeezecenter 7.01, and the Squeezescrobler 1.1.11.
When I play a radio station the player always skips a track. After a track is finished I see another track name appear, which then disappears and gets replaced by another one. This one then gets played...
What is happening here?

sorry, but I had to cut some text out in order to squeeze it into the length limitation.
Yes, I tried to switch to my recommendations station without any reaction from the controller or the SC.
As I said: Skipping tracks and pausing does work but not changing stations.
Changing stations from within the web ui of SC is no problem at all.

Hi everyone,
First of all my english is limited I probably missed some clue while reading this thread
I have downloaded the latest version 1.1.11. under extras > lastfm.squeezescrobller shows only enable scrobbling or disable scrobbling. under advanced setting I can only set up log in to last fm and report track, I cannot see menu to stream from last fm under internet radio.
I repeatedly download the zip and it only contains
lib
HTML
SQL
install.xml
Readme.html
strings.txt
\lib\plugins-squeezescrobbler-plugins.par
\HTML\EN\plugins\lastfm\html\images\btn_thumbs_dow n.gif

\HTML\EN\plugins\squeezescrobbler\settings\basic.h tml

is it because of missing file?
looking forward to hear from any of you

Yes I have restarted SC and no i cannot see lastfm menu under internet radio
basicly I only see lastfm.audioscrobbler plugin in the server setting no squeezescrobbler plugin.
I also installed magnatune plugin and it doesnt apeear on plugin page, I unzipped magnatune under d:\squeezecenter\server\plugins\magnatune & squeezescrobbler under d:\squeezecenter\server\plugins\squeezescrobbler.
FYI, I have deepfreeze freezing drive c:\ while SC 7.01 is on D:\ Is it the culprit.

OK so the problem is no new plugins are installing?
What do you have in d:\squeezecenter\server\plugins\squeezescrobbler (You should have for example an install.xml file) ?
I think the plugins are case sensitive as well, so that should be SqueezeScrobbler if it isn't already.

I had another go when the deepfreeze is disabled, and apparently still no result at all.

gwnzen, I have no idea what's wrong there.
Best thing is to check the server log to see if the plugins are even mentioned.
You might want to start a new thread making it clear that no plugins are working for you, as more people will look at that.
jjsqueeze, I did a test last night and changing stations works fine on my Controller and SqueezeCentre 7.0.2. When I press play on the new station, playback stops immediately and the new station starts a moment later.
Again, I think I'd need to see the whole log to work out what's wrong.
Could you attach it in a zip file?
thanks

I believe there's a link to the log in the web interface (in the settings page?),
or you could try searching the forum or wiki for details on it's location in the filesystem.
I know it's moved so I'm not really sure of the definitive location.

Hi
I'm running Squeezecenter 7.01 on a linux NAS box. I have successfully created a last.fm account and can play music on my Squeezebao 3 using the web interface. I haven't installed SlimScrobbler or SqueezeScrobbler. I have noticed that a directory called AudioScrobbler already exists, however in the Plugins directory.
I can not access last.fm from my Squeezebox alone. Do I need to install SqueezeScrobbler to do this? If so, do I need to delete the AudioScrobbler directory?
Help appreciated.

James, do I need to have both SqueezeScrobbler 1.1.12 and the native SC Last.fm Audioscrobbler (v1.0) installed in a SC 7.x Server? I recently removed 1.1.11 because the Last.fm Audioscrobbler disabled Last.fm posting from SqueezeScrobbler. Will I be missing some functionality if I don't have both plugins installed? At one point I remember needing both, but I don't remember why. After removing 1.1.11 I can't not find any function(s) missing. If they're mutually exclusive, what are the advantage of one over the other? Also what problem was fixed in 1.1.12?
Thanks...

In SqueezeCentre 7.1, the official LastFM plugin can replace all SqueezeScrobbler functionality.
(The official plugin is the one in the Music Services menus)
There was a change made in the server which broke the plugin, hence the 1.1.12 release.
However, the only real reason to use SqueezeScrobbler is if you're in a country not supported by the official plugin.

I've updated SqueezeCenter to v7.1 and Squeezescrobbler to v1.1.12. But the scrobbling is not working. (It worked fine with v7.0 + v1.1.11)
Can this be the problem:

I can't find PendingSongListV1.2_smwest.txt. I'm using a Freenas-server. Where is this file located?
Anyone...
Forget it. It's suddenly working now. Don't know why though...

Just looked on my LastFM page and my listening charts are all screwed up because it is registering each song I play 60 or 70 times, all with the same time!
How do I check if it is the plugin (using v1.1.12) that is doing this or an error at LastFM? (The SC plugin is disabled)
I did recently upgrade to SC7.1 from 7.0.1 but this odd behaviour started prior to that, however it doesn't do it ALL the time, which is odd.
[QUOTE=Craig, James \(IT\);324477]In SqueezeCentre 7.1, the official LastFM plugin can replace all SqueezeScrobbler functionality.

I live in Canada and love last.fm and really really want to play it on my Squeezebox (DUET and SB3). I'm using SC 7.2 and it tells me the LastFM / SqueezeScrobbler (v1.2.0) is out of date....
Can anyone help..?
I'm pleased to say that a working version of SqueezeScrobbler for SqueezeCenter 7.3 is now available from http://slimscrobbler.sourceforge.net.
I've also created a repository for the new Extension Downloader plugin in 7.3, with which you can install the plugin:

I am in Canada....Do I need to change my country to see the LastFM or audioscrobbler on my SB (Duet) remote..?
I remember I used to see LastFM on the remote but it never worked...now I have the Last.fm Audioscrobbler (v1.0) checkedin my Squeexecenter settings (and have unchecked the Last.FM and have rebooted and all that) but do not see it on my remote....
How do I use the Audioscrobbler to play LastFm in Canada..?
Hello there,
I'm runing Squeezecenter on a Qnap TS109 with SSOTS.
Everything was OK with v7.1 and v7.2, including LastFM / Squeezescrobbler Plugin (only neighbours & recommended). (I live in France).
When I upgraded to v7.3 + the las SqueezeScrobbler plugin, something went wrong: on the UI, Menu > LastFM, whenever I try to listen to recommended, it keeps saying : "Waiting for LastFM track details..." for 2 to 3 minutes then I get the message: "LastFM error detected"
No sound at all, but the elapsed & remaining times are runing
The UI page keeps "ticking"
I disinstalled then re-installed Squeezecenter v7.3 + SqueezeScrobbler plugin v1.2.2, same problem.
I installed Squeezecenter v7.3 + SqueezeScrobbler plugin on my desktop, same problem.
the only thing that works with this plugin is the data that are sent to LastFM when I play my tracks ("recently added..")
Thanks for any help, I LOVE this LastFM plugin so much !!!!

It appears we are all experiencing the same issues in that this wonderful plugin does not work with the latest version of SC7
Hi all, was on holiday last week.
I've uploaded v1.2.3 to Sourceforge, that appears to resolve the current problem (LastFM changed their station name format which caused the plugin to get stuck in a loop changing the station)
If you're using the Extension Downloader it will see the new version automatically.

A 1000 and 1 thanks. The new version works with 7.3.2 Great addition, so much better than just a radio station.
I've uploaded a new v1.2.4 that should fix any stations still not working.
Download from https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=105780&package_id=247364&release_id=648496 or just check the Extension Downloader for the new version.

Thank you very much James.
Seems there is a "parity check error" when trying to install v1.2.4 via Extension Downloader.

Normally I just leech all those forums without contributing. But your updated plugin opened my beloved Lastfm for me again after updating to Squeezecenter 7.3.2.

James - as I've said before, terrific plugin, one of my favourates.
Two questions/issues:
1. I've noticed some odd characters appearing in the title of the radio your listening to - looks like the apostrophe is being mangled. So you don't get "Chrismason's Radio" in other words - the apostrophe is replaced by odd characters - an encoding issue perhaps?
EDIT: this is what I see, both in the web UI and on the player : "chrismason98’s Library"
2. Previously, LastFM would keep a history of music I'd listened to so I could say "play more of that", but currently, no history seems to be kept. Is this specific to certain kinds of radio stations?
I'm running SC7.3.3 on Ubuntu 8.10, streaming to a wireless SB3.
Thanks!
Chris.

It's actually LastFM using some very peculiar UTF8 characters that is the cause of this.

Hello -
I have a Squeezebox connected to SqueezeCenter 7.3.3 and I can't seem to get SqueezeScrobbler to work. I think I've installed it correctly, and I can add my login details in the SqueezeCenter UI and see a LastFM/SqueezeScrobbler menu item on the Squeezebox. But when I select this menu item all I see is a message that says "SqueezeScrobbler is OFF".
I've added a few radio stations (user/neilio, which is my last.fm username, and artists/Elvis Costello/relatedartists) but neither of those or anything else appears on the SB.
Any suggestions?

Ah, I didn't realize I had to do that. Now it's allowing me to scrobble tracks played to lastfm, but I don't see any radio options.
This isn't being limited by geographic location is it? LastFM radio is available in Canada, but I noticed that even the official LastFM radio option doesn't seem to appear on my system.

Where are you looking for 'Radio Options'?
You should be able to start playback from the LastFM menu options in the web and player interfaces.

I don't see a LastFM menu option - I see a "LastFM / SqueezeScrobbler" menu item, but all that gives me is the status of SqueezeScrobbler and the ability to submit scrobbled tracks.
Am I missing something? Where should this menu appear?

Doesn't sound like you're looking in the right place - it's in the Internet Radio section.

Ah, thanks - found it.
When I select that item I get a message "Waiting for LastFM track details... " - I'm trying to play my own radio station. Do I need to set this up in the preferences, or is this automatically configured?
Sorry for all of the questions!

Hi,
I am addicted to last.fm. I live in Poland so I have to be a subscriber. I just ordered Squeezebox Duet in order to listen to last.fm in more convenient way. Before it is delivered I configured SqueezeCenter (7.3.2) on my QNAP TS 209 (2.1.4) together with SqueezeScrobbler plugin (1.2.5) and tried to listen to last.fm using SoftSqueeze (3.7). And then surprise - it does not work. I can see my stations, friends, neighbors - but when I want to play the progress stops at 0:00 on the web interface and shows: "Can't connect to the server" on the SoftSqueeze.
Am I doing something wrong? Pls help!
TIA,
Piotr

Hi-
I've been using the SqueezeScrobbler plugin for a while now to listen to Last.fm on my squeezeboxes (thanks!). I'm in Canada, so in the last few days my free access to Last.fm has been shut down, as it has for everyone not in US, UK, or Germany.
I just bought a subscription, but I still can't get Last.fm to play via SqueezeCenter. I get a "Problem: can't connect to server for:<station name>" message, and that's it. My login info didn't change when I bought the subscription, so I haven't changed anything in the server config.
Should SqueezeScrobbler still work for me? Should I switch to the built-in plugin, now that I'm a subscriber?
Chris.

Hi from Poland again,
I tried squeezescrobbler and original last.fm plugin (from paid account). I get the same results as Chris has.
Please help!
Piotr
False alarm, perhaps:
When I got the connection error, it was with softsqueeze. I just now went and tried it on a real squeezebox, and I was able to play Last.fm fine. So, Piotr, you will probably be fine when your Duet arrives.
Don't know why softsqueeze has a problem, but it's a non-issue for me, because if I'm at my computer I'll use the Last.fm client, not SqueezeCenter.
Chris.

Great plugin but with the changes to LastFM I have just deleted my account and all information provided. Real shame but I hope they realise the mistake when the number of member and users drop in all countries apart form the lucky 3.

Sorry for the long silence. Finally it arrived and it works! - I was so happy. So the problem was related to SoftSqueeze.
The only issue is that my Duet had the same problem as described here:
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=56016
so I had to return the whole package.
But anyway - I am going to order the new one - it is great device.

I've noticed that Squeezescrobbler doesn't work anymore since the latest 7.4 trunk. Any one else who noticed the same behaviour?
I guess this is because there's some MySQL specific code in the plugin and 7.4 has switched back to MySQL.
Are many people still using SqueezeScrobbler?
I expect the radio side of the plugin is either going to or already has stopped working, and I don't plan to update it any more.
Is it worth me keeping the Scrobbler side going?

Well, I think so. It's the only way to get Last.fm RADIO on your squeezebox if you don't live in US, UK or GER... So, I use it mainly for the radio functions... The scrobbler is included in Squeezecenter, so that function could be taken over by Squeezecenter.

I thought you could just change your location in SqueezeNetwork?
Does that not work any more?

I'll verify this. Changing the location does hoewever make your local radio stations not so local anymore...
No, changing your location in Squeezenetwork doesn't work...

'fraid not. When I log into squeezenetwork.com, it says:
"Right now we can only stream Last.fm radio to the Squeezebox in the US, UK and Germany—we are working on extending this to other territories. In the meantime, you can listen to Last.fm radio on your computer in other countries."
...so the only way for me to listen to last.fm on my squeezeboxes is via your (fantastic! essential! heavily-used-every-day!) plugin.

Oh yeah, one of my SB's is an older model that I believe doesn't support squeezenetwork -- so there's another reason to keep your plugin alive.

Same for me, actually, except I'm in Canada. It was working until July 6. I remember installing the AlienBBC plugin later that day, and then on the 7th I couldn't use last.fm. Up until now I was assuming that the AlienBBC somehow stepped on SqueezeScrobbler. Perhaps that's not the case?
If I attempt to play a last.fm station (and I am a paid subscriber, btw), it brings up the info for the first track, but it won't actually play. The player puts up an error message saying:
"problem: can't connect to server for:
LastFM: <station name>".
Here's something from the log:
[09-07-08 20:40:47.0158] Slim::Formats::RemoteStream::open (108) Timeout on connect to [kingpin6.last.fm:80]: 10035: Unknown error
[09-07-08 20:40:47.0165] Slim::Player::Song::open (374) Warning: stream failed to open [lastfm://globaltags/chillout].
If I hit 'skip' it will bring up info for a different track, but still not playing, and with the same error message.
Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated. I'm running SC version 7.3.2 - 24695, and I have SqueezeScrobbler v1.2.5.

I wonder if it is a change at the Last.fm end - I use a different client to get Last.fm on my phone and it also stopped working on around 6/7 July - the author has just released an update which has restored functionality.

I am getting frustrated...
Hi all,
I am guessing that LastFM have turned off the legacy radio service that SqueezeScrobbler uses.
To be honest I do not plan on fixing this as it would require a complete rewrite of the plugin code.
However, if anyone knows differently and it's just a minor change that's required let me know.
I had a look on the LastFM forums and I could not find any discussion on what had happened.

Oh no!
I'm really hoping there's a way this plugin can be resurrected. The official last.fm/squeezecenter solution is useless to anyone who's outside the three chosen countries, or who has older hardware. Your plugin worked everywhere on everything.
Otherwise, I guess I'll be cancelling my last.fm subscription. I can't understand their business plan: lure in users with a free service, then make (some of them) pay for it, then cut off their access!

I just bought a squeezebox Boom, and the whole and only point of buying it it's to listen to last fm. I hope you are able to fix the problem or give an alternative solution soon. Or I will go nuts...
By the way, I am from Spain.

James,
Are you already sure whether you will or won't be able to fix the latest LastFM / Squeezescrobbler problem?
Regards, Roy (from The Netherlands)
I have the same problem. Millions of peoples have the same problem.
So please find a way for all these poor people. You are the ONE Neo (James);-)
Serak
James, I am saddened to hear that it looks like a full re-write. You have provided a great service to this community.
It looks like we need to move on. There is no last.fm alternative outside the geo-restricted areas, but is there an alternative service.
Can anyone recommend a Squeezebox service similar to the one that James offered us? Perhaps a Blip.fm plugin?
Keen to hear?
KJ
Hi all,
I've been on holiday so haven't had a chance to look any further than this:
I believe the LastFM service changed to require an application key when logging in, which the plugin does not have.
I have to see if adding the key resolves the issue, then see if LastFM will give me one.
But even if this works, it's still only a matter of time until the old service the plugin uses is switched off by LastFM

Hi Guys, I love this plugin more so than the native one. for the reason it submits tags.
I'd really like however that we could have an option to submit only the first artist of a track if it has Multiple artists. Can this be done?
And not so importantly can we have an option when playing to love the track.
Love to hear from you. As i think i'll bug the Squeezebox team to develop that functionallity. However it won't really help me. I need to use yours as i'm in australia.
I dont get any stations with theirs

Hi There,
Looking for someone who has the power to fix this plugin.I wrote the same thing for the native plugin. The way i look at it. the plugin that can get this worked out first all the better. Anyways i prefer the Submission of genres as tags with this one. Thoug i would like the "love this track " facility as well.
At the moment When scrobbling tracks with multiple artists. SC scrobbles the whole tag.
e.g. Crosby, Stills & Nash/David Crosby/Stephen Stills/Graham Nash
I use the artist that i would like scrobbled as the first part of the Artist tag,
e.g. Crosby, Stills & Nash/David Crosby/Stephen Stills/Graham Nash
I would like 'Crosby, Stills & Nash' Scobbled. I consider this a bug.
As Squeezecenter Offers the ability to have multiple items in tags, and this helps with finding all artists contributions over a large data base.
I strongly believe the importance of fixing this issue is paramount as we also have the ability to Scrobble to Last.FM and my scrobbles are just wrong for those tracks.
So i was thinking we could attack this as such.
in the LastFM scrobble options page have an option "submit first artist for tracks with multiple artists" have a check box.
The Code that exists would just need some code inserted that would have the Psuedo code as such.
Needs a variable set up as artist.
Does the track have multiple artists?
No. --> Assign artist tag to variable.
Yes. --> Is the check box ticked on the lastFm options page?
No. --> Assign artist tag to variable
Yes. --> Cut Artists tag from beggining till it reaches the delimiter.
which is set in the Music Library Options page.
Assign this result to the variable, "Artist"
then follow the existing code to submit it.
Of course you could have another option to join the multiple artists;
Make; Crosby, Stills & Nash/David Crosby/Stephen Stills/Graham Nash
Crosby, Stills & Nash,David Crosby,Stephen Stills & Graham Nash
By counting the artists, inserting commas and ampersands where needed.
Depending on how people tag there files.
From what i've gathered at LastFm they will not be using a facility to cope with the multiple artist problem specifically they are working at fingerprinting songs which will help and i suppose at that point we will be submitting the fingerprint id for songs.
Anyways any support would be appreciatted. I love scrobbling. I use to find events in my area, find bands i haven't heard of close to those i listen to. And the more accurate my scrobbles the better.
NEW version of SqueezeScrobber 1.2.6 FOR Last.fm
http://sourceforge.net/projects/slimscrobbler/files/
Hi,
I have removed 1.2.5 and installed 1.2.6. Works again, but no sound. Any tips on why this would be. Songs show as playing, album art appears and I can skip etc, but no sound.
Here's hoping it is an easy fix.

I've got the same problem....
with this new version, somes difficulties appear with starting indeed but while starting again Last.fm several times one is able to make it function correctly.
small flat, some difficulties of operation appear to know that interface Squeezecenter of the PC (see Softqueeze) the Last.fm service is able to launch out but via directly Squeezebox that seems more delicate!
is necessary to launch this application of the PC and after navigation can s' to establish via the squeezebox with the need.
still small a bug apparament nothing malicious good either.
Hi,
I'm using the 1.2.6 version that installs manually ( so it can be used in Europe). My problem is that LastFM doesn't show in the controller, just in the web-UI.
Is that how is supposed to work??
I'm running SBS 7.4.1.
I recently cleaned my computer and re-installed windows and everything else. I haven't touched my SlimServer/SqueezeCenter/Squeezebox Server installation in a long time and would like an update.
I installed Squeezebox Server 7.4.1 and under the Plugins tab I see:
Last.fm Audioscrobbler
Last.fm Radio
I'm only interested in the scrobbling right now. Can I use the built in scrobbler or do I need James' SqueezeScrobbler. I live in Sweden.
I would have thought that the default audioscrobbler plugin should work regardless of location in 7.4.1. It is only the streaming of radio (so the default Radio plugin) that is country restricted.

Hello everybody.
I'm on SqueezeCenter 7.5.0 (on a DS210j) and discovered under "plugins" that there is an Audioscrobbler. I set up my credentials, but *no song* is being sent over to last.fm.
How could I debug that?
Does that Audioscrobbler actually work?
Thanks in advance!
Did you enable scrobbling for each of your player under "Settings", "Player", player name, "Last.fm Audioscrobbler"?

yerma, you're great! That was the missing point!
Many thanks!
SqueezeScrobbler stopped working for me.
I dug in, and it appears Last.FM started using HTTP Redirect, and the plugin wasn't expecting that.
Fixed it with a patch I uploaded at https://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=3179703&group_id=105780&atid=642338

i've read this on the web
SqueezeScrobbler will submit music files that you listen to on your Squeezebox to Last.FM, where it will show up on your recently-played list and count towards your listening statistics. SqueezeScrobbler also allows you to listen to Last.FM internet radio on your SqueezeCentre players from anywhere in the world.

I could be wrong, but I don't think so. And my understanding is that last.fm now requires a paid subscription for streaming on SqueezeBox players. Perhaps someone else can confirm....

At least for me in the US, last.fm is free to listen to on my PC, but to stream it to my SB I would need a PAID account. And again, I think this plugin is for scrobbling, not playing streams.....
Oddly, I had this all working fine in 7.6.1 with SlimScrobbler 1.2.9.. but after a server restart I now get...
At startup:
[11-09-03 22:10:45.2554] Slim::Control::Request::execute (1863) Request in error, returning
When clicking on the LastFM icon/link in the sidebar of the web interface:

; fh=Slim::Web::HTTP::ClientConn=GLOB(0xbc58380)
Working again without me doing anything, so it must be a missing error handler for some bad thing last.fm can do intermittently..
Is there a way to get SlimScrobbler to report the tracks it is playing via lastfm radio for me?
For example, my 'neighborhood' station or that of another user.
They don't appear in the 'remember recent tracks' list if I enable that, and they don't scrobble.
Here's an example of it ignoring a remote track despite knowing everything about it:

LastFM has a rather silly deal with Logitech .
For some reasons only lastFm can answer, you are able to be a paid subscriber almost anywhere and use your PC for premium content.
But Your are only allowed access via squeezeboxes/mysqueezebox.com in a few countries in Europe it is UK;DE;FR ant that's it .
Why LastFM has such limitations is not easy to understand, of-course money and "rights" issues etc is involved as usual.
There is a level above this we have little insight in LastFM's owners and in the end the record companies and other media groups they buy their content from is involved and their interest in these markets , it might not even in be in LastFM own interest to have this situation .
But I bet that they really want people to spend time online on their site and community to be exposed to ads or more subtle marketing.
Way back you got away by having the "wrong" country selected in your mysb.com settings now they use geo-ip .
So a combination of a proxy that makes you "apear" in US or UK and the "wrong" country settings in mysb.com ? migth do it .
Or a simple solution the wave input plugin that lets your stream the PC output to squeezeboxserver and thus forward it to your players .
So you be using thier desktop app

Has anyone thought about writing a new (so, unofficial) plugin for SB based on shell-fm? You wouldn't need the "wave-in" plugin then, as the shell-fm plugin would just stream the lastfm audiostreams to the squeezebox...
Presumably shell-fm works in exactly the same as the last.fm PC player (i.e. no restrictions for subscriber-only), which would therefore enable non-subscribers to listen to last-fm on their squeezeboxes..
Just a thought...
