View Full Version : Hardware buttons for a new case
is there a way of making hardware buttons for the squeezebox? (for navigation / power etc.)
You could certainly disassemble a universal remote after configuring it to send JVC DVD IR codes, and remount its emitter diode inside the case but within view/reach of the Squeezebox IR receiver.

I have a retro JVC Boombox from '85 and I want to strip out it's Cassette Deck and replace it with a small Single board computer(NSU?, my SlimMP3, and my huge Music store... I'd love to be able to hook in the old buttons since the deck was way cool...

The Geek Connector might be one solution... See this thread (http://forums.slimdevices.com/archive/index.php/t-83.html) for an old discussion.
Right now you can monitor the internal IR signal or inject your own signal (eg for a keypad).
thats sort of what i had in mind too.. :) i wanna do that for my ipod too, but was hoping for some readymade circuitry that i could just solder in...
looks like i need to get something that will convert to IR codes (for slim) and encode over serial for ipod (via the dock connector)
haven't seen anything so far...
