Although it supports WAVs, I think you'd be better off using
a lossless compressor like FLAC (http://flac.sf.net). FLACs
are roughly half the size of WAV files without any loss of
quality. Support for FLACs in the server is good, with all
the customary metadata available.

I am able to run a FLAC->WAV stream wirelessly with 801.22b
with no problems. I only have 1 Squeezebox so I can't say
how many of these streams would swamp the network.
