Hi, I've got a squeezebox with a bad display. The unit can still be controlled with slim server (and the remote, although with no display, it's next to impossible to operate) so the unit is mostly working. I've found a bad IC on the display board (U5) with a burned spot and I'm waiting for a replacement from the parts shop here. I have two questions: 1. has anyone got any experience repairing these at the component level, and 2. if the new IC doesn't fix it, is a new display board available? Thanks.

After a long wait, the part arrived. It was a through-hole type package instead of a surface mount and much larger so I had to solder wires to the circuit board and run them to the new IC through a socket, BUT IT WORKS again! Hopefully this info may be of use to someone who has this issue someday.... BTW part no was NTE74HC123.

Hi

I have almost the same problem, in my case the U7 ist faulty and I can't read the complete numbering on the IC. Can you tell me these?

Thanxs,

Daniel

My SB3 just arrived and has a bad display. I contacted support this week-end about it, I'll see what they will come up with, but I hope I won't have to do solder myself!

The display is partially working, so I've been able to enter the wpa2 password and use it, but it looks like the display is slowly getting worse: It's harder and harder to read what's being displayed
