I sent this to Paul but if he is away for a while, I'll put it here.
I got my new TS-101 at the end of August, if I want to install the updates from the update page do I still have to install of them, starting with the all in one, or can I just install updates since say July?
For example SS 6.3.1 update is dated 20/7 whereas I have 6.2.2 installed.

If you have 6.2.2 then you *don't* need to install the "All-In-One Update" dated 31/05/06.
Just download SlimServer 6.3.1 (20/07/06) and All-In-One Plugin Update for SS 6.3.x (24/07/06)
EDIT: And with my pedantic hat on, the SlimServer updates have nothing to do with firmware, they are software loaded onto the hard drive. Only the entries on that page maked as firmware are actualy loaded onto the Qnap itself :)
