Hi!

I have just got my Squeezebox and my Synology DS-106 up and running and are very pleased!

But i have to questions for you out there!

Is it possible, in any way, to run a DynDNS client on my DS-106? If so, how oI install it?

My music collection is mostly coded using the *.m4a format (ACC). It turns out that my DS cant stream those on the fly, missing some binaries i guess... Has anybody managed to do that? Du the 106 have enough power for such a job?

Is my only solution to re-code to another format? any good applications to to that out there?

Regards
Dr B

You need a binary for a converter, the DS-106 seems to have enough power:

On the fly transcoding can be done with mplayer as detailed in this thread.
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=25501&highlight=mplayer+aac

However DS-106 does not support the /dev/fd so a named pipe has been used to get mplayer working in AlienBBC on DS-106 (see thread below). The same trick could be used for AAC.

In the Deutsch forum there is an patch/installer file DS-106 for installing AlienBBC including mplayer and named pipes - if you do that then a small further mod to convert.conf will enable AAC transcoding.

If your Linux skills are not up to it - I'm sure some detailed steps can be written although I don't have a DS-106.

I already installed the ddclient (Perlbased Client). This client worked perfectly. Now i use the new client of my WRT54GL Router. So i deinstalled the DDClient. I will have a look, because i created a modified .pat file for the SSODS which installed the SSODS in combination with the ddclient. If i still have it, i will post it.

Look at this thread @ post #10

I have created a firmware patch for the DS106. If SSODS and Slimserver 6.3.1 is installed, you just have to install the patch. This patch installs AlienBBC 1.05 for SS 6.3, mplayer and lame for the ppc. It also installs mkfifo and creates the pipe. Then you have to enable rtsp mp3 and for some radiostations (bug # 3383) you have to disable wma (built in) and enable wma -> mp3. It works perfectly on my DS106. I don't know, what exactly to do for m4a, but it should also work.

You will find the .pat file here:

http://user.blue-cable.de/mrhyde/files/AlienPPC.zip <-- Update: I had to remove this file due to webspace (If somebody is interested, pls contact me)

Please use this patch without any warranty.

Hello,

i have found the .pat file. I have to change the ini file of ddclient, because there are my settings included. Additionally, i will remove the SSODS installation, because i have no additional webspace for the 8MB. When i finished the .pat file, i will post it. Probably i won't have the time before the weekend, but let's see.

Hello everyone

I've read the discussion about the ddclient. I also have a DS-106 but a very old router which doesn't support the dynamic update of my IP. Therefore I would be very pleased if you could post the file.
Thanks for your work.

Hello,

i can provide you a patched ssods (at the moment for Slimserver 6.3). I have also adapted the Web interface of the ssods.cgi script. You just have to modify the ini file of ddclient via telnet. The rest (autostart, start, stop and status) can be done via Webinterface.

The ddclient.conf is installed at /volume1/ddclient/etc/ddclient

You will find the .pat at

http://user.blue-cable.de/mrhyde/files/ssods_ddclient.1.1.zip

I had to remove my parameters from the config file and setup the .pat file. I have not tested the new compilation, but it should work. The only problem i observed was that the Diskstation did not go in hibernation mode.

Actually i have no chance to test this file, because i have the SS6.5 installed on the DS106 (with the help of flipflip). If flipflip will release a .pat file for the SS6.5, i can try to it with DDCLIENT
