Just wanted to mark the passing of Arthur Lee when I saw NME.com mentioned that Tony Ogden had died too.

They cover Arthur's death at

Love were definitely an important band and Arthur a great songwriter. I first heard The Damned's cover of 'Alone Again Or' before discovering the original and many other great tunes.

The World of Twist are less seminal but I loved their sole album, Quality Street, none the less. I think they successfully mixed the 'madchester' vibe with the knowing kitsch of Pulp.

Arthur Lee's passing is a huge loss. Forever Changes forever changed my life. A truly extraordinary album. A highwater mark in rock music, for sure.

Alone Again Or was the first song I had played at my wedding reception last year. The day of my wedding was August 3rd last year. A year later to the day Arthur passes. I am crushed about it.

For those not in the know, you NEED to check out this album.

I'd never heard of him before hearing Alone Again Or on the UFO album Lights Out - a great tune, so no surprise it seems to have been covered frequently.
