The speaker-wire connections on my amp and outdoor speakers are a real bitch to connect. (I'm planning on building a luggable sb3+speakers+amp box, for use on the patio and surrounding garden/backyard beneath, and the speaker-wire connections to the amp will become even more problematic to access). Anyways, I would be regularly connecting/disconnecting to the outdoor speakers, and want to try and come up with some sort of simple plug solution.

Any suggestions on how to proceed? I was thinking basic RCA audio cables, but there's probably a better way...

What about 4mm banana plugs? Easy to connect, cheap, and more heavy-duty that RCA plugs. Gold plated ones available too!

phone jacks...

well that is two words, but you get the picture.

I have whole house audio inside and outside. I've simplified the outside connection by using the phone jacks and cords.

Just strip one end of the phone wire bare and plug that into the speaker, then CLIP the other end into the phone jack.

Naturally the phone jack is wired from inside the house. It's very simple.

Hope this helps.

yeah, the banana plugs work great -- just realized what they are yesterday (picked up a set today), and that my amp and speakers are all set for them -- makes for nice, simple, and easily removable attachment. In my defense, I haven't bought a new stereo since the one I had in college, some 20 odd years ago, and we didn't have no fancy-pants banana plugs. Now, get off my lawn! ;-)
