For Unix - don't do it!

I suggest no builtin defaults at all apart from the location of the main configuration file (which should also be overrideable via the command line). Make sure that sensible defaults are in the distributed configuration file. That way you get maximum flexibility, and it still works out of the box.

I think I agree here, but I alsolike to see a command line option
to override default Plugins/IR/HTML directory perhaps...

Assuming the mantle of the *nix Bigot for a moment... :-D

The only command-line option necessary is the location of the config file.
All other options are held in that file. (no, I'm not advocating pulling out
the current options... just offering the conventional wisdom)

As long as I'm able to configure the location of whatever and more,
I'm in the happy-camper-camp!
