I am a new owner of a SB v3. The SB itself is fantastic and worked perefectly right out of the box. The IR Blaster I purchased from SlimDevices arrived with no instructions at all. I searched the forums here and found how to install the plugin. I have been trying to figure out the procedure in the Learning Wizard. It asks twice to "name a button" and it asks twice to "press the button on the remotw" Which remote, the one it's trying to learn, or the corresponding button on the SD remote?
Can someone who has gotten this to work give me a few pointers?
I've done some experimenting, but when I press "apply" and then "test" nothing happens. I'm just trying to get the SB to turn on my amp.

Hi tjp888

I have written up some documentation about IR Blaster in the wiki. Please check it out here: http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.cgi?IRBlaster

Have you tried to use the included slim.conf file to see if your ir emitter is installed correctly and works?

What brand amplifier do you have? Have you tried to find a suitable .conf file on www.lirc.org?

If you want to use the learning wizard, you will need to learn the following commands from the remote of your amplifier: power on, power off, volume up and volume down.

The learning wizard will first ask for a filename and then which button you want to learn. At this step you need to point the remote of your amplifier at SB3 and press the button to learn. You should see the learned pattern on the webinterface. Repeat that for all four commands and then exit the wizard and load the learned file in the IR Blaster webinterface. You should then be able to select what you have learned in the dropdown boxes for the four events power on, power off, volume up and volume down.

During the learning process you only need the remote of your amplifier.

Hope this helps
Felix

Thanks Felix, you cleard up some points. I have already visited lirc.org and they didn't have a file for my amp.

I'll try it again when I get home tonight,
