Is there any difference in quality from Ethernet connection to wireless. If not, what is the point of Ethernet connection?

No. If you have a stable wireless connection, then there's no difference.

Ethernet is much less prone to transmission errors. In my flat I receive
no less than 7 or eight wlans - interference must be expected in such
conditions :-(

Well, the audio quality is exactly the same, PROVIDED that both links are working and able to do their normal data transmission thing.

At the link level, a wired network will usually have a higher bandwidth (100Mbits vs 54).

A wireless network, on the other hand, is prone to interference from various things like cordless phones, microwaves, and your neighbours. It is also potentially hackable by passing strangers.

A wired network will normally be cheaper.

So, on the whole, wired is a lot better ... IF you can run the wires conveniently. If you can't, then wireless is good.

The ethernet jack on the SB can also be used as a bridge to other ethernet devices. If my satellite receiver can ever use a usb ethernet adapter I can use a crossover cable between the receiver and SB and my receiver is now on my network. No new cables, no additional wireless hardware. Pretty slick.
