View Full Version : Can I stream live music to SB3?

We have a party set for a few weeks time where there will be live music playing in one room. Is there a way to feed this music into a computer (Apple MAC) and stream it direct to the SB3 in another room. We would like to get the whole venue wired to play the same live music throughout. It seams SB3 may save us a lot of wiring.

no built in way, but you can fudge it.

If you get the music into a PC you will need to setup a audio streaming service, i think WinAmp and soutcast can do this. I've never set this up, but it has been discussed a lot on here, there may be a Wiki page about it too.

Once this is all setup you just tune to the strewam like you would a real internet radio stream (http://<computer ip>/stream.mp3 or something similar)

There will be a delay between the live music and what the SB3s play because of buffering at the SBs and in the capture/encoding software.

Just had a thought. You might be able to do this with WMA streaming using the free MS tools. Have a look for Windows Media Encoder and other tools there might be something there.

If you can live with a few seconds of lag, you could set up something like
shoutcast or icecast and pipe its stream back into slimserver.
