Ripped DVDs how do I get them on SB

I recently loaded 1900 songs onto an external hard drive in the Drive F position. My previous songs were in C drive under my music. How do I get the songs to be recognized by the squeezebox? I have tried server settings. The first set up, SB did it for me, why not now?

Go to server settings. In "Music folder" put the path to your new music library directory... G:\whatever

Press "Change"

Then scroll down to "Rescan Music Library" and select "Clear Library and Rescan everything", then press "Rescan".

Wait!

This should work... if it doesn't, you could try the more brutal route of stopping slimserver, deleting the database file (its in slimserver\cache) and restarting. That will force slimserver to rebuild the library from scratch

If that doesn't work, post back here with details of what you've done and what happened...

If you want both your 'My Music' music and the external drive music to show up, then leave the Slimserver music directory as it was, and make a shortcut to the external drive in your 'My Music' directory.

Then rescan.

You can also see/play the new music without rescanning using 'Browse Music Folder'. As you play the music or browse to track level, it will automatically be added to the Slimserver database.
