Hello,

Contemplating a slimserver/sqeezebox setup for my home. After spending countless hours ripping and tagging my music exactly as I want, I am wary of applications that want to modify things (like tag data). I want a music server that will treat my music files as read only.

Can someone tell me if SlimServer can/will treat my music folder as a read-only folder and never overwrite/change things?

Thanks,

John

it's my understanding that slimserver is designed in such a way as to not allow it to modifiy the files.

Slimserver does not modify any of your music files. Metadata is
collected and stored in its own database and presentation of data is
done from manipulating the data stored there. Slimserver only writes
playlists that you create in slimserver to the location specified in
the server settings for playlist folder.
