Im currently having problems getting my sb3 to communicate via wireless with my slim server.

My network is laid out as follows. I have a main 4 port router which connects to my cable modem. from one of the 4 ports a link goes off and into a switch. Connected to the switch is my pc running slimserver and my wireless router (with dhcp turned off and with its ip set within the range of the router.)

now i can use my laptop to connect to the internet via my wireless router no problems, and so can my pc running slimserver. Ive set the static ip of my slim server to 192.168.123.165 its gateway to 192.168.123.254 (the ip of my router)

When setting up the slimbox i set it to wireless, it found the ssid itself, i entered in the wep key and it says it connected fine. i then gave it an static ip of 192.168.123.200 the subnet to 255.255.255.000 the gateway to 192.168.123.254 and the dns to 192.168.123.254. Then i set the ip of the slim server on the slimbox to 192.168.123.165 . I then click connect and get "can not connect"

Ive opened up the correct ports in my software firewall (sygate) and i can see the packets coming in and out.

Although when i connect it via wire to my switch it detects and lists my pc as a server and then can connect.

Has anyone got any idea as to where i am going wrong?

Many thanks

Trev

hmmmm

I lost hope and gave up for a bit, i then added to my firewall to allow everything from the ip of the sb3. I then fired it up and it worked. I then wondered if it would continue to work if i removed that rule and just used the ports that slim devices reccomend, so i did and it continued to work.

Well guess atleast its working, but dont you hate it when odd stuff like this happens :z

Ive been messing with it for a bit and it seems to loose connection to the wireless and then reconnect. Its only an 11mb old wifi access point but could the sb3 need more than 11mb or have i missed something? It does it where im using the slim server or slim network.

Any ideas will be appreciated
