Slow IR signals?

Sometimes my SB3 responds veeery slowly to the remote commands; when I press one of the buttons (like arrows, play, pause, etc.) it can take several seconds before it reacts (as if the IR beam travels at a snail's pace). Why does this happen, and what can I do to fix it? Is it related to the server (CPU load), or network load/signal, or just the SB3 itself?

I'll try moving the server software to a more powerful host and see if it helps. Thank you!

For me at least, it is the load on the server. When my son plays games on that computer my Slimserver browsing, etc. slows to a crawl. It seems to play normally though.
