View Full Version : Accessing New Music - Stephen Fearing
Hi All,
I was recently on LastFM and stumbled across Stephen Fearing in someone elses favourites. I went to the web to find out more and it seems interesting, but I've never heard any of the music.
I'm interested in being able to hear some before I buy a CD does anyone know where I might get some tracks (legally). For the purposes of a tryout I'd use a legal (pay) MP3 download service, but I'm not sure where I'll find it.
Also can anyone let me know what the music is like, it seems it should fit with my likes and dislikes (see sig for lastFM profile).

Well, I've never heard of this person and I have no idea what they sound like but... have you tried asking lastFM to play you "similar artists to..." ? As well as getting their view on what he's "like", you should get some by the artist himself in the mix?

It's a good idea but LastFM don't have any Stephen Fearing in their archive so while I could play "similar artists to..." that's exactly what I'd get, unfortunately it wouldn't actually include anything by Stephen Fearing :(

I was going to suggest that you try Pandora - but they do not have this artist listed either.

Hi Malcolm,
It looks like there's some demos and unreleased stuff at http://www.stephenfearing.com/PAGES/Offcuts.html; also Amazon have 30sec previews of some of his tracks. Any use?
Ian
I usually look on Amazon - they often have 30 second samples of tracks. Also iTunes does something similar.
Steve is from Toronto I believe and also play's in a group called "Blackie and the Rodeo Kings". Hope this helps.

I thought I must make a comment about Stephen Fearing and wonderful stuff to listen to on your hifi system. One of the pieces I use to test out my system is a Stepen Fearing song. It is on a CD by Clive Gregson and Christine Collister called Strange Hotel. The last track is called "You have the most beguilling eyes". Apart from piano it is Christine singing solo. If you have a good system it is a real emotional experience.
I recomend you to check it out.
