Niles Intellicontrol and SB3

I recently purchased a Niles Intellicontrol unit and I would like it to control my SB3. I know I could just use an IR Flasher device from the Intellicontrol unit to relay commands to the SB3 but I was hoping there was a cleaner method of controlling the SB3. Has anybody dealt with this type of situation before and what did you do?

I know it is pretty impractical to have the SB3 hidden away in a rackcloset so I have set it up in a prominent place in the room. I am just a little worried that having a big old ir flasher stuck to the front of the SB3 from the Intellicontrol system will be kind of ugly. Any thoughts on how to get around this (other than using the original remote).

Are you saying the Intellicontrol and SB3 are in different rooms?

No they aren't, they are both in the same room. I was looking at some of the IR Flashers Niles makes and they are much better looking than I initially expected. Having one stuck to the face of my SB3 probably won't look so bad after all.

Oh, I thought the Niles had IR built in as well as RF. There are always the Radio Shack pyramids.

the niles flashers are indeed quite minimal. i suggest the MF1VF which has the visible feedback (flashes visible red with the IR) because if you ever need to troubleshoot--and you're using an intellicontrol so we know you will--it makes things much easier.

that being said, another option is something like the IRB1 (which i've never seen firsthand) which i guess floods ir over a larger area. useful if you have somewhere inconspicuous to mount it or need to hit multiple components (seems unlikey with an intellicontrol).

I feel like there are other wide-area ir-emitting devices out there, also. so it needn't be surface-mount flasher, if that gets you anywhere.
