View Full Version : 96/24 .wav support?
Hi all,
I've looked all around the web site and can't seem to find a statement that defines what the ".wav" format really supports.
The reason for the question is I have a lot of 96/24 wav files recorded from my vinyl collection. I wanted to verify that the SB can play these hi-rez files before purchasing a SB.
Thanks!
Gary

I understand that 48/24 works now, and that 96/24 can in theory be made to work on the existing hardware but that doing to hasn't been committed to. That is based on the following forum post and "bug" record. Note that you have the ability to vote for the bug, which can potentially increase its priority with the (wonderful!) Slim Devices folks.

Thanks for the reply and pointers. Looks like I'm not going to purchase one at this time. I'll keep an eye on the website and wait to see if 96/24 capability developes in the future.

Thanks for the information. I voted for the bug, as I have a number of 48/24 recordings I have been meaning to bring into my Slimserver library.
I've noticed that the above-referenced bug and other discussions on the forum of bitrates above 48khz talk about the DAC. Can 48 and/or 96 khz FLAC and WAV files presently be played if the digital (coax or optical) SB2/3 output is used?

The bug I mentionned relates to digital outputs (I only use digital outputs on my SB2).
