View Full Version : Where do I start? Lost
OK just found out about Squeezenetwork, visited the website and signed up. I'd like to add my players but I don't know where to start.
From the website
Step 1: Connect your Squeezebox to SqueezeNetwork.
If you are connected to SlimServer, browse to Squeezebox Home => SqueezeNetwork to connect.
I must be missing something, where do I find 'squeezebox home' and 'squeezenetwork' in slimserver?
Is Slimnetwork going to let me listen to this station? http://www.bbc.co.uk/6music/ Since this is all I really want to be able to do.
You'll need to install SlimServer 6.1 to get the latest Squeezebox2
firmware that lets you connect to SqueezeNetwork.
We posted the 6.1 final on the web site last night. Look for an
official release announcement later today.

Ignore me, I'm stupid!
Just realized I'm not running version 6.1 D'oh!
How embarrassing.
OK, now running version 6.1.
However, I still can't see a 'squeezenetwork' link in slimserver?
Use the remote. Press LEFT repeatedly until you get to Squeezebox
Home, then scroll down until you see SqueezeNetwork.

Aha, got it! If you ever need an idiot to idiot-test anything, give me a shout :)
Now, how do I go about listening to www.bbc.co.uk/6music? I think it only lets you choose between realplayer and windows media player streams. Am I correct in thinking that neither of those will work?

That's right. SqueezeNetwork only supports MP3 streaming stations today.

Derek,
Looks like you need AlienBBC:
http://www.mrtickle.org/alienbbc.html
Actually, the latest version (0.98) is available here:

AlienBBC make work quite well for slimserver, but it doesn't appear to have anything to do with being able to connect directly to SqueezeNetwork without a computer.

I was responding to Derek who asked:

If he wants to do it without slimserver then he's out of luck at the moment.
