View Full Version : dedicating a button on my remote to running a script???

I have a spare button on my universal remote and I'd like to configure the
slimserver to run a script whenever I press that button. In other words,
the button does not correspond to a normal SB function - all it does is run
a script file on the server.

I heard that this is possible but I haven't found any information on it. Is
it indeed possible, and if so, how could I do it? I am familiar with
Default.map and the IR files.

run the server with --d_ir, then press the button you want to use. Hopefully
you will see the IR code in the debug output. Then you can map that code to a
button name in the .ir file, and map the button to a function in Default.map or
a custom.map.

I already know about doing that - I've done it before. But I don't see any
description of how to _execute a script_ as the function to map to in
Default.map. I think I was pretty clear in describing what I want to do so
I think you must be implying that what I want to do *is* documented, in
which case can you point me to it? Sorry if it was right in front of my
nose and I missed it somehow.
