Sweet! Very nice!

I take it the top line of text does not allow scrolling? If I put ARTIST in
top left and ALBUM in top right, I sometimes see some stomping going on, and
no scrolling...

Very nice though!

I think it would be great if this functionality were integrated into the
native "Now Playing" display, then we could just pick the old "Now Playing"
screensaver...

Why do I say this? Well, I use the down-arrow a lot to view and select
upcoming songs. However, if I happened to have left myself somewhere within
the Main Menu, and your screensaver comes on, then the down arrow doesn't
start taking me through the Now Playing list -- it picks up where I left
off, somewhere in the Main Menu! I have to manually get back to Now
Playing, because I wasn't there in the first place...

Or perhaps your screen saver could have a function/check box that said,
"Return to Now Playing before invoking Screen Saver"?

I think this is the same issue that provoked the difference between
screensavers "Now Playing" and "Now Playing (Jump Back On Wake)"...

A minor point. You have done a beautiful thing.

dean mentioned to me once that he has been considering reworking the handling of
the now playing screen. This is why the request for current time in teh now
playing has not shown up in any build, despite a working patch. I would guess
that this rework would be intended to allow the flexibility required for things
like artist on first line, etc. Having said that, it still comes down to the
big task at hand: 6.0. the big effort is in getting the data handling clean
and quick and bug free before too many other fancy things come in.

its a good idea, and certainly other people have asked for it. safe to say it
can come along eventually. good design would even allow it to be part of the
plugin API so that Michael's plugin would actually BE a now playing screen.

Don't know, it simply does not... I'd have to look with some of the core
developpers if this is by design.

It seems to work for me. i'm using this screensaver on both my
squeezeboxen and softsqueeze now. Great work. However, the first
strangeness had come up tonight.

really well most of the time but tonight the bottom line is scrolling
(which potentially could be brilliant - scroll the line of the display
that needs to be and not the other). However, tonight i've got a
short (7 character) title so it shouldnt need to scroll but the title
appears a second time to the right of the text that's already there.
The bottom line then scrolls left until only one title is on screen,
pauses slightly, then the second copy of the title reappears.

Time for a reboot methinks.

Do you have anything in the right corner? Do both scroll or only one of
them? Strange thing...

I didnt think i did and nothing had ever scrolled before but on
looking it seems the (play)TIME function was placed bottom right.
fiddling with it switchin it on and off it did appear once but then
went again.

So - with time in bottom right the bottom left scrolls even though it
doesnt need to and the time itself doesnt show up.

i'm now on the settings i thought i was on to start with (nothing
bottom right) and it's fine so dont worry about it. still odd
behaiviour

The PLAYTIME setting is somewhat confusing as it uses the state of your
normal "Now playing" button: you can cycle through played time, remaining
time, played with progress bar, remaining with progress bar and nothing.
If you had it set to nothing it will show exactly this - nothing. Press
the "Now playing" button and you will see the time.

BTW: I just uploaded v1.3 of the plugin which will limit the PLAYTIME's
progressbar (which you don't use...) to half the line length and fixes
some bugs.
